She Wanted to Cry, A Poem

She looked away
But she could not hide the pain
It etched its lines across her face
Her down-turned eyes
Her silent stare
She clenched her teeth
To bide her time
For the tears begged
Their final descent
But no,
She wanted to be alone
When they came
She wanted to tear the tears
From her very soul
And in her torment
She just begged to
let it be real
Unjudged
Imperfect
She did not want
The reason for her tears
To stand in glory
Like a thief in the night
Holding his stolen wares
No, she wanted her tears
to have purpose
She wanted to openly
Feel the anger
The pain
The frustration
And then walk away
A stronger woman
Not because of the tears,
But in spite of them.
