The Sun Refuses to Shine, A Poem

Her whispers

Speak the truths

Of slow deaths

Long drawn out pain

And the sun

Wants to shine

But she can’t –

She holds back

Arms raised over her eyes

She wants to escape

To the honesty of coldness

The Cold, clammy grip

That holds everyone’s attention

Neglect, digs deep

And the caverns lonely stretch

Is deep and silent

No, this is not her way

But sometimes

The will to fight

Descends in darkness

And the truths between

What she wants to see

And what she sees

Shatters the silence

There is no escape

There is no escape

And sometimes

The sun refuses to shine

Even when you beg

With tears in your eyes.

Thank you. Sometimes those feelings fade in but they quickly fade away. I prefer to use poetry to rid myself of those feelings and find hope again. No one said life would ever be easy – but I find poetry makes it easier 🙂

Yes i will agree with you whole heartedly on all of that! for sure writing away the feelings seems to give them a place to go almost like you are shedding them helps me to move on from them too! 🙂 im a very positive upbeat person but that is becuz i have so much hurt behind me in life you learn such gratitude from it all. xoxo

I am exactly the same – usually known for my upbeat outlook on life. I have learned (through pain) to hold on to hope, express your feelings and let go. So sad to hear you have had similar experiences, but I do feel it makes me a better, more caring person.

I agree with you. I do feel that connecting with others and sharing your feelings makes the world a better place, allows us to heal, and allows us to grow. I wouldn’t have it any other way 🙂 And yes, knowing you are not alone is a precious gift.
