They hold us back
Arms bound
And dragged away
Yet we have a voice
That they want to silence
We have a voice
And this they fear
Dragged away
Arms bound
Yet this won’t stop us.
We drape across our skin
The words they fear
And hold it within our hearts
For things must change
Things must change
And they
Cannot change
What is in our hearts:
Our desire for freedom
Our desire for peace
Our voices sing
Our voices cry out loud
Wavering in the darkness
Though they may beat our bodies
Though they may chain our hearts,
They shall never own our voice
Our time will come.
