Photography: Garden Treasures #1

I have a confession to make, I really do not know why I love taking pictures so much.  However, whenever I pass by something that makes an impression, I just want to capture it – hold it in my hands and remember it again upon reviewing the image.  I have never learned how to use a camera and my first true use of a camera was with a smartphone.  However, I have not let that stop me from trying.

I have a lot to learn, but I also feel that I really love my point of view.  It is funny – my husband the other day was complaining that he didn’t like the pictures when the background was blurred.  When he takes a picture, he wants to capture every tiny detail.  For me, I find beauty in the imperfection.  I find beauty not only in a new bloom, but I also find beauty in the decay and remains of a flower past its prime.  There is just something musical about nature that sings to me with such sweet beauty.  Yes, I am not kidding.

I think that if I did not have family and commitments, I would just spend all day in nature and never find myself without something to notice and enjoy.  That’s just the way I am.  Funny thing is – I have spent most of my life in the suburbs, but I did spend a few years in a small farming community in New Jersey and perhaps that is where I grew my love of nature.  So – blurred backgrounds, imperfect shots, withered and beautifully new – that is all I can promise.  This is me – and truly, this is where I find beauty…
