Dawn Wept, A Poem

Dawn had hidden
the last vestige of her tears
she wept for the beauty
of sunlit mornings
of promises unspoken
in a petal’s reach
in the morning song
of Whip-poor-will
and the silent quiver
of warming grasses
and dancing leaves
upon the vine
she cried
and hid her tears
among the flowers
along the grasses
upon the vine
and the world rejoiced
for the beauty of her heart
brought life to the beauty
that she sees.
