Daily Post Discover Challenge: Weekend Flâneur

This week’s Daily Post Challenge is Flâneur, and they asked us to observe our own city, town, or patch of earth and report back.  Our views during the weekend, unless unusually busy, are different than those of our weekdays.  We try to get out as often as we can – either walking in the woods, hiking on a trail, or just getting out for a scenic drive.  These are the moments we revive after a long week.  It is almost necessary, like medicine.  Without it, we feel trapped in the house and count the days till the next weekend.

Hopefully, after seeing the photos, you will understand why.  In Colorado, we have so many places nearby that are amazingly beautiful to visit.  No matter the time of year, it’s wonders are inexhaustible.  This was only a simple weekend walk.  Even then, I find myself refreshed by all its beauty and ready to take on another day…

This is our first view as we get out of the car, a pond dancing with fall’s colors.  There is plenty of share here, under the towering tree,  We stand by the pond for a while, mesmerized by the dancing leaves reflected in the pond.

Here is the real view, no less beautiful…

We find ourselves slowly meandering along the water’s edge.  The shade here keeps us cool while the sun shines gloriously in places where it finds a break in the trees.

Our path scattered with falling leaves…

Sunlight dancing on the water…

Further down the path, we come to a nice spot near a bridge and sit idly on the nearby rocks while watching the dancing reflections of leaves, trees, and sunlight across the water…

The water was cool and gentle.  You could hear it softly gurgling in the background as leaves floated peacefully by.

Our return trip allowed me a different view of this fence – adorned by these gorgeous leaves.  Sometimes, fall takes my breath away…

One last peek at this wondrous view before returning home to the suburbs on the prairie.

It is lovely, isn’t it?

Yes, I know that some places express their seasons differently. It is usually sunny here, even in the coldest parts of winter. In our city, the snow melts the next day but not in the mountains. It is a nice mix.
