Portraits Poetry Series #31: Dancing in the Rain

Portraits Series

We are dancing in the rain
It matters not that we’ll get wet
But its fresh scent begs
For entertainment.
The rain pours
And puddles lay at our feet
While others curse the rain
We dance and smile
Puddle slapping
We are young and free
While others carry excessive baggage
Their boots slap angrily
Grumbling snores through life
They can’t enjoy the rain
Their heart’s just not in it
Not today, nor tomorrow
They can never feel free.
My hair lays wet
Across my face
Your clothes are soaked
And it does not matter,
For when in love
You just want
To enjoy the moment
Embrace everything –
Including the rain.

Rain; rain oh for some rain, here we love the rain too, and a feeling of wellness pervades, except if it rains too hard, as the Cape area is renowned for flash floods, and very high seas. We are in a drought at the moment, with heavy water restrictions. Oh how I love your writing, I have been rather tired for the last few days, so have not read any, and how truly I have missed them. Best wishes and blessings, Charles.

I hear it rains rather hard in places. Here, it does not rain as much as I was once used to – but I do enjoy it when it happens. It is more of a gentle rain where I live, but people have been flooded in the mountains so I do understand the power of rainfall. We also go through periods when we have water restrictions – it is difficult to get through. Hope things improve 🙂 Thank you so much for your kind compliment 🙂

Pleasure, it does seem that the weather generally is changing; here not only are we getting less rain, and more destructive rain, but we are having generally higher temperatures than we are used to. Best wishes and blessings, Charles.

Yes, it has changed in many ways. Scary to think where that is headed…
