Daily Post Prompt: You Learn to Breathe Hope

breathehope

They see

Your sullen expression

Clasped hands

That hold back

Hold back

The pain

And they trace

The moody lines

Upon your face

Define your disposition

As glum.

Always asking –

Why you are never happy

And they never see –

But you breathe hope

You breathe hope

Beneath the desperation

And you see

Despite the difficulty

The sun awaits your smile

And slowly you stitch

Positivity

Beneath your wounds

And your wings stretch

Toward your dreams

And for every tear

Pressed against your cheek

And every crying out

That was silenced

You never gave up

You never gave up

And despite them

Holding you back,

You became –

Who you were meant to be

The beauty they could never see.
