The Storm Will Pass, A Poem

Things are
Difficult sometimes,
And even when sadness
Has drowned in time’s passage
It is there, hidden
Beneath the skin.
It is enough
To breathe in whispers
To listen
To the stilted pause of existence
But I have learned
I have learned many lessons
And despite the rain,
The storm shall pass
And no matter
How fierce the winds
The uprooting of trees
And the sinking of the earth
There comes after –
A stillness
A singing of birds
In the leaning trees
The sound of a gentle breeze
Rustling their leaves
And hope draped in
Azure skies
The sound of crickets
And the warmth of the sun
No matter the storm that arises,
Whether outside or within –
I have learned
“This too shall pass.”

I really love that line – “this too, shall pass.” It’s a great everyday reminder and helps keep me motivated.

So very true. Sometimes we do need reminding 🙂

  2. Beautiful phrasing throughout, Sumyanna. I love the images you paint – especially ‘hop draoed in clouds’. Thanks for the ‘Follow’ on my own blog.
