Photography: Gentle Beauty Lingers in Winter (Part #1)

I had enough yesterday.  I’ve been stuck indoors for far too long and I just needed to get out again.  I’ve been in a dilemma though, as my camera hasn’t been working (come to find out it just needed a new battery and it arrived as we got home yesterday).  So we braved the cold – it was around 38 degrees Fahrenheit.  We went to the gardens.

The upside?  There was barely anyone there and those who were at the gardens were indoors.  We walked the paths and found beauty lingering in so many places, I was genuinely surprised.  See, I have never gone to the gardens in winter before – ever.  To me, you go in the Spring or Summer.  Oh, was I wrong!

We went indoors where it was warmer to eat our packed lunch and then much later, we sat in the gazebo by the Japanese gardens and drank hot tea we brought in a thermos and homemade ginger cake.  Despite the cold (it wasn’t so bad actually) we have the most fabulous time and the kids really enjoyed it.  They are now wondering when we are going to go back in the cold 🙂  I hope you enjoy the images (I have quite a few) 🙂

Oh, and on a side-note, my daughter was kind enough to allow me to use her camera for this outing.  It’s one of those “smart ones” so it was such a struggle to take most of these pictures…

  1. Could you contact me through my contact page? I would be interested, but just have a few questions to ask. Also – I could possibly give you better quality photos.
