Portraits Poetry Series #46: A Flower Blooms

Portraits Series

There is beauty

In the innocence

Of unopened flower

Unsheathed petals

Held close

Forcing their way

Toward light

Their heads held high

As they drink in the sun

Ensconced in leaves

Of verdant green

That rise and protect

Enshroud her beauty

A striking pose,

If I’ve seen any

Where promises lay

When petals slowly

Tremble open.
