Were Our Hearts Gardens, Where to Find Beauty

Plants, oftentimes

Steeped with dew

Cry tears that were never meant

Sing sorrows that they never knew

It is the poetic rhythm

Of the universe, I think.

Were our thoughts lost

In all its wonderment

We could see…

We could see deep inside

We could feel the angst

Of grasses pushing through dirt

The struggle of trees

Bent in the unforgiving wind

We could hear the wail and howl

In the discontented breezes

Searching for something.

But oftentimes,

Though nature’s beauty

Sings out

With rapturous voice

We listen

with inexperienced ear

and the significance

is lost on us.

We must learn

The passionate language

Of all the beauty that exists,

So that we may strive

To grow the same beauty

Within ourselves.
