Portraits Poetry Series #47: Another Beautiful Day

In case you haven’t been here before, I love writing prompts – whether a list of words, one word, or even an image.  With these posts, I have written poems specifically about paintings and I hope, with my words, you see the scene just as visibly in your heart and mind as if you had seen the image itself.

Portraits Series

I fell into her silence

a day like any other

but I fell – entranced

and her beauty

dwelled outside me

and within.

It was all I could see

and though some may see

a simple black and white photograph

oh, no – there is so much more.

You could see

the clouds wanton stretch

across the heavens

and the shadows they threw beneath

the crystal clear waters

a reflection of everything

and you can hear

the gentle song of the breeze

It whispered tune

lifts your heart

so that your steps no longer

touch the ground

and your heart soars

above everything.

Although some may see

a simple black and white photograph

I see depths of beauty

and shades of meaning.
