Random Thoughts: Learning from Disappointment

Sometimes, we have to learn from disappointment. No matter how bitter the pill, there are always lessons to be learned.

A farmer does not plant seeds and have nothing grow without asking himself the reason. If the problem is the seeds, he will find new ones that grow. If the problem is the land, he finds ways to manipulate the soil to help it flourish. If even that is impossible, he may go out and seek better land.

He never sits there and wonders at his plight – still planting the same seed, or still sewing the same rows in infertile ground. It is just illogical. Instead – he strives and reaches for understanding of what, where, and why. He is never happy, until he finds answers.

Yet sadly, in life – we often do the same thing the same way and don’t wonder at the reason it is not working. We just try harder, but barely pull back the layers to understand the “why.”

Right now is the moment to start asking yourself those questions, to understand the “why.” It is time to start asking yourself how you can better get from where you are to where you want to be. This is not a guarantee of your success, but it is a guarantee that you are finally making a step in the right direction. Change will never come unless you step toward it. You should never settle for anything less.

I couldn’t agree more with your post Sumyanna. I would also like to add that once we understand the “why”, it will be much simpler to follow through with “how” to pursue our dreams and desires.
