Uncertain Beauty, a poem

She pulled the covers
over herself gently –
it was time to wake.
She trembled at the thought
for a moment.
Who knew what steps
lay ahead?
Who knew
if she was strong enough?
Gentle fingertips,
that once held herself together,
were slowly pried away.
It was an unveiling of sorts,
mixed in with equal parts
of bravery
and persistence,
despite that uncertain cry.
Unfurled –
she raised her petals
high above the rest
and sung.
No one,
passing by her,
would have guessed
at her uncertainty.
