I Heard Your Voice in Spring, a poem

VoiceSpring
Good morning, chickadee
may the sun join in
on your glorious song
may the gentle breeze
ruffle your feathers
and carry you home.
I have waited
all winter
for the music that you bring.
I have waited
all winter
for the gentle push
of plants against the earth
the trembling rise of flowers
the proud escape of leaves
from their tiny, quivering buds.
Sing!
Sing!
Sing me a gentle tune.
Lull my heart to the sound of sunshine
sweetly peeking through the trees.
Know that I have missed you
and hold your sweet voice
as promise –
spring is near.

    1. Oh me too. Sadly, it snowed today. The good news is that I know it is not far away. Mine has been impatiently waiting, so the snow was definitely unexpected 🙂
