Our Lives as Outliers, a poem

FontCandy (20)

We have grown, learning

the different ways

to fit in

we learn to struggle

beneath our own skin

for this is surely,

where happiness sleeps.

But we try

and we cry

and we struggle

beneath these lies

and some sadly

get lost in this race

there is not a trace left

of their soul.

Have we not yet realized

that beauty lingers

in the curious ways

that our hearts speak

in what we have learned

along the way

and despite our imperfections,

who we still strive

to become.

All our lives,

we have writhed

beneath this lesson

unspoken, yet shouted

in so many ways –

“be average”

when our true goal

should always have been

“be more.”

Our true beauty

is found

in what outlies

all the rest.

    1. So glad you enjoyed it. I have decided to join my own photos and words together more, if possible. It makes it that much more personal 🙂 Thank you and thanks for sharing!

      1. Your photography is spectacular and your words heaven, they go together beautifully. Using your own photos makes the verse come alive as your writing. It already lives on the page, your that good. Your photos would be the icing on the cake.
