When No One Else is Looking, a poem

on

woman

The wind
caresses her tresses
her scarf, fluttering in the breeze.
Her eyes hold uncertain beauty
as the sky slowly moves
from blue to grey,
pink tinged clouds slipping in the wind.
She listens to the silent whisper of sunset,
cheeks flushed in passionate joy
as she dances in tall grasses
and embraces her beauty whole.
Free, she sings with the chorus of crickets
inside is awakening, the desire
to burn as bright as the morning sun.
She smiles and begins to walk
in the silence of her soul,
certain her beauty rests
way beyond what can ever be seen
and it dances swiftly
beneath the clouds at sunset
when no one else is looking.
