Unanswered Questions, a poem

I wanted to ask
what brought you here
what was life like
before this moment?
Where have you been
and where
do you hope to be?
It’s a common request,
I’d like to think –
but just like me,
we often forget the asking
until there is no one left
to question.
Time –
sometimes we are rather fools,
to think it passes slowly
for all too often –
it passes quicker
than a blinking eye
and moments, looking back
are opportunities not taken
questions, never asked
and there’s nothing like
the taste of regret
the acid burn of recognition
that it’s much too late
to understand
the history
that pushes silently
through your veins.

  1. This is AMAZING & so moving! It is absolutely true and the first point always frustrates me! I am so terrible at small talk, but it should be so simple! Thanks for the wonderful talking points.💞~Anne

Thank you very much Anne 🙂 I sometimes wish I had the time to ask more and the ability to understand its importance. Wish we all valued conversation like that – storytelling that needs to be heard.
