What is the Measure of Your Soul? a poem

lend beauty

to the outstretched embrace

of gardens,

were it to be –

in their scent,

in their gorgeous glow,

in their radiant smiles

that linger longer

within the heart

even after

that heart has left the building.

It even matters not,

if we have memorized their name,

if we have them boldly emblazoned

upon our chests,

nor if they are only

one among many.

Beauty creeps within their veins,

their leaves sup

from the nectar of gentility

and their scent of beauty

subtly lingers

upon all those who pass.

Would it not,

be of consequence

if we listened to the truths

that nature weaves

beneath her splendor?

What is then,

the true measure

of our soul?
