Pondering Reflections, a poem

Reflections (2)

How often do we
look at ourselves
and wonder
what we reflect?
And despite the things
we have been taught,
from harms
thrown upon us,
in equal measure –
we often
throw them back.
Is it not better,
to show beauty
despite the ugliness
that others reap –
for how else
can you sew
the desire for beauty
within colder hearts
without striving to be
what they cannot see
within themselves.

  1. This is an interesting point, Sumyanna. Some people do rise above negativity and don’t “reflect it back” but, sadly, most people are affected by, and react negatively in return, to something back towards them.

So very true, but I don’t think it is the norm (sadly). But often negativity begets negativity begets negativity. I do hope we learn at some point that this formula won’t work for us. It is hard to forgive and not give in return, but something good may come out of it.

      Thanks again 🙂
