You Never Said Goodbye, a poem

FontCandy (4)

Just as quickly and eagerly as some people walk into your life, so too, will they seemingly walk away.  It is not always apparent the reasons – could it be something you said, could it be something you did not say?  Perhaps, relationships are not always as open as they may seem, and the consequence is you sitting, staring out the window and wondering why…

I saw you
on the street
this morning,
walking your usual path.
You seemed lost
in your own thoughts
and I could hear
your slow, plodding steps
walking away
walking away.
Did you look down
at your feet,
to ensure your steps
or was it that
you begged your heart
not to look
in my direction?
Does it hurt
when you pass
familiar street signs,
or does all of it now
mean nothing?
I cannot help
but shed a tear
on thoughts of you
now passing
It seems like
such a long time
my friend,
and you never said
goodbye.

Very nice poem… “and you never said goodbye” – that is when it really hurts.

So very true. You grow away from those sad feelings, but they never completely go away… Thank you 🙂

I can be sometimes. We always get back up though. The world is too beautiful a place to let others get you down 🙂
