Portraits Poetry Series #56: The Music of Her Heart

Portraits Series

She hung her head low

in concentration,

fingers gliding softly

across ivory keys

and then she stopped –

the beautiful melody

still singing out

for a moment,

and then it was gone.

She tried

to string

the language of her heart

in the notes of music.

She tried

to sing

all the words

she wanted to speak,

but was often too afraid.

Hands held gently

above the keys,

she started again –

writing a love poem

without any words

to the sound of

her heart’s beating.

I’ve always wished i could write music as it expresses so many different emotions… you sure displayed that in this poem wonderfully!
