Where Hope Sits

Hope

Hope sits in waiting, where spring’s blossoms dare to grow
Gentle push of leaf, then petals emerge to greet the sun
Hope sits in dew kissed tears on a summer’s morn
They slowly slide across the backs of drooping blades of grass
Hope sits in sun drenched fields, where bees buzz and stir their song
Alight on flowers wild, the gentle dance of life giving life
Hope sits in the whisper of the wind, falling on the leaves of trees
The gentle sway, the rustle, for it stirs the soul deeply
Hope sits in the sound of crickets, way past bedtime
The croak of frog, drenched in the glow of moonlit dreams
Hope sits in a sky of stars, for no light shall ever outshine them
And we dream, and we dream, and we dream upon those stars
For this is where hope sits
Despite their song, we cannot reach them
Despite their view, we cannot hear them
Despite their scent, we cannot taste them
But we hold their magic in our hearts
And despite their transient passage, we still hold on
For this is where hope sits, on the edge of significance.
