Photography: Strolling Through the Park (Part #1)

So today I shall take you on another walk.  This time, we did finally make it to the gardens.  If you remember last time, we arrived only to find out the gardens were closed for a wedding.  We ended up taking beautiful pictures behind the gardens on a nice walking path there.

This is no ordinary garden.  There are flowers, but they are not arranged in neat little rows.  The flowers do not stretch from one end of the park to the other.  Instead, it is a more relaxed experience.  I would never downplay its right to declare itself a garden though.  It is simply lovely there – and such a relaxing experience.

The garden itself takes up quite a bit of land.  It is incredibly lush and green.  Grasses stretch from one end to the other and in every corner of the park you can find large, looming trees to find shade.  It was rather hot the other day, so the shade was incredibly welcome.  Surprisingly, it was very cool beneath the trees.  I should know this… but living on the prairie, one tends to forget.  Where we live, the trees are few and not that large.  The one thing that takes up a lot of space is the outstretched sky.

On our trip, we were able to spot rabbits (both babies and mothers), turtles, frogs and ducks.  The only one thing that was not in abundance was people, which was seriously a welcome thing.  There were a few people meandering through the gardens, and we did spot a few kids dipping their feet in the pond, but otherwise, it seemed like we had the place to ourselves.  It was incredibly relaxing and yes, we are certainly planning our next trip out there.  My daughter wants to stay for a while and sketch the gardens and the other girls want to write poetry beneath the shade of the trees.  The little guy?  We’ve decided to have him bring some of his small cars and dump trucks.  Truly counting the days 🙂

I hope you enjoy the view.

Oh, and sorry for not being around much lately.  We’ve been out and about in nature.  This past weekend we even got a chance to take a boat ride on a lake.  No worries though, I have plenty of photos to share 🙂

    1. It is so nice to finally get outdoors. We are hoping to go to the park tomorrow – bring tea and cake and shelter beneath the shade of those lovely trees. Ahhh, my favorite time of year! I hope the weather is treating you well where you are.

          1. Wow. I bet you must have been shocked 🙂 Living in the mountains (once upon a time) we used to get snow up to my dad’s top of his thighs. It was deep and perfect for making snowballs. We used to build snow forts and have battles 🙂 Now, I don’t like the cold as much.
