Silence is a Weapon, a poem

on
Alone (2)
Silence,
is a weapon
I have found
it berates
the wounded heart
and strokes the gills
of undeserving beast.
Well-fed cats parade
in search of prey
they slink down quiet halls
on padded feet
and pounce on the unsuspecting.
Do you hear it?
the silence
you shouted so loudly
I could almost hear it
reverberating in unsounding gloom
and all I could do to escape
was count tears never spilled
and those yet spilling
from white padded walls
as your silence
claws from a distance
where straight-jacket’s scream.
