Portraits Poetry Series #65: Where Dreams May Fly

In case you haven’t been here before, I love writing prompts – whether a list of words, one word, or even an image.  With these posts, I have written poems specifically about paintings and I hope, with my words, you see the scene just as visibly in your heart and mind as if you had seen the image itself.

Portraits Series

This is where
She captured her dreams
Ribbons swaying in the wind
And the sun streaking through her hair
There is a hint of fragrance
Unmistakable, yet undefinable
The fresh, cool, morning air
Is filled with its scent
Perhaps it is hope, strung there
Adrift upon the breeze
And she stands in silence
A witness to its beauty
Hands outstretched…
This is where
Memories collide
With possibility
They mingle
In the air she breathes.
There is a sweetness
To their release
The trust
That they shall return
And hope
That they shall soar.
