The Weight of a White Rose, a poem

on

whiterose

What is in the weight
Of the white rose,
Darling?
For though I find it
Gently clasped
Between my hands
I still ache
To understand –
I want to smell
Its fragrance,
Pungent and sweet.
Understand its lines,
Flowing rivers
Of petaled beauty,
Folded edges
Released atop
Bowed curves.
I am enraptured
By its beauty,
Wrapped up
In its essence.
I want to
understand
Its meaning –
Where new beginnings
Dwell upon
the edge of tomorrow,
Where the summer sun
Kisses the morning landscape,
Where the air is fresh,
Smooth silk promises
Of what hope brings,
The moments are fleeting…
Sigh, take a deep breath –
It is there where you’ll find meaning.
