Set Free, a poem

The thought

that a creature

crawls across the earth

in one form –

disasters of the day,

predators seeking prey,

and yet,

they hide,

they slide their days

in belief that they’ll survive.

They climb upon

the furthest mount,

shelter themselves

beneath the trees

and sleep –

perchance to grow

and stretch

beyond their dreams.

Come shake yourself

from quiet isolation

now is your time!

Open your wings

and unfurl your hopes

upon the wind!

A flit and a flutter

they barely leave a trace

before further beauty

beckons them still

and their souls race

toward the freedom

of gentle expression

the dainty dance

their beat of wings,

a gentle song

as the breeze whispers

and flowers entice

luring them

far from home.
