Lessons in Spring, a poem

SpringLessons

Her tears were

watercolors,

awash across the plains

where fields dwelled,

unplowed fortresses of earth

waiting for spring.

After the rains came,

the earth

gave birth to color:

fields of swaying

shades of green,

outstretched azure skies,

the golden sun

laying its gaze

on the elegance

of yellow, white,

and purple

wildflower displays

sighing beneath

the lazy tresses

of weeping willow trees.

The artistry here

is ablaze with

joie de vivre

the hunger present,

each element reaching

to outshine the next,

yet equally devoted

to providing

amble beauty

for mutual benefit.

All sing

with one purpose,

“I am beautiful –

because I am,

but moreso

because my beauty

amplifies your own.”

    1. I want you to know I saw this a while ago, but did not respond yet as once we got back… I’ve been sick again! What the heck?!? Oh my gosh, I haven’t been sick in years and this year it was two… one before vacation and one after. Ahhh, such is life! Anyway, I am slowly returning to normal but wanted you to know how much this means to me. I’m going to look at the post this week. Thank you for everything!

      1. You are so deserving of this and more, Sumy. I know it might sound crazy, but it works. Cut an onion in half. Place it on a shelf or on the kitchen counter. Leave it over night then toss it. It collects all the germs in the air. I read about this woman during the flue epidemic in Europe. Hers was the only family not affected. The doctor was stunned and asked what she did – the onion trick, daily. No matter who came in, with flue. I’ve been trying it for several weeks as there are a bunch here with the flue and strep. It appears to be working. Can’t say I like the smell, but if it keeps us from getting sick, it’s worth it. Just a thought.

        1. Somehow 😦 I am the only one who has been sick aside from the two younger kiddos the first time. This time, only me. I am sure they will appreciate this advice as they are not looking forward to catching any germs!

          1. If I had a choice right now, I’d line up a bunch of onions around the house 🙂 Going to try it this tomorrow. Just to make sure.

          2. I’m still under the weather, but definitely not as bad now. My second youngest got sick after me, but she has weathered it much better than I have. Being sick stinks! I guess I shall count myself lucky that I rarely get sick. I guess I needed to make up for it! How are you faring?

          3. I’m sorry this is hanging on and making you feel so rough. I’m ok. Painful with the barometric pressure up and down and all over. Can barely move. Hanging in there for sure.
