If there is anything I could ever hope to tell you, it would be,
“Don’t doubt your value. Be certain of it.” Sumyanna
You Never Lose Your Luster
Let love
be whispers
set adrift
upon the wind.
I see you
I see you
and you are not
alone.
Let not
the chatter
of darkness fall
upon your ears,
nor let the years
of torment
wring deep
within your bones.
You –
yes, you
were meant
for more than this.
Your birth
upon this earth
a blessing, to be told
no matter if
the words were spoken.
Some truths
need not be uttered
to be sincere.
And those,
upon whom the task
to grow and mold befell –
languished
in their ability
to see the beauty in you
but do you blame
the failure to see
on the view?
No matter
how worn
the jewels of yesteryear
have become,
they never lose
their luster
and the only lesson
that I have learned
is pity for those
who refused
to open their eyes.

I can’t find a re-blog button. This is so worthy of one or ten! Loved it, Sumy.

It should be there as I haven’t changed anything. Ahh, WordPress!!! Thank you so much for enjoying the words. I wrote them for a dear friend who really faltered beneath the words and treatment she has always received. It is sad to think that anyone feels undeserving of love.

I get that. I know a young girl that is functioning under the same thing. I’m trying slowly to show her sheis worthwhile

So glad to hear you are trying to help her. That kind of hurt should not be known, I think. It is a blessing to help others know they matter when you know how much it means.

Indeed! If I have a gift, that would be it, being there for those in desperate need. They come to me, just show up on the doorstep. It’s a privilege and honour both.

So incredibly true and I am thankful when I can give to others what I know is so important. There have been people in my life that did the same for me and I guess its a way to pay it forward 🙂

Great writing! …should your © be changed to 2018?

Yep – I am horrible at the beginning of EVERY year 🙂 I will fix it. I think I usually start using the proper date once the middle of the year comes around, only to have it change not long after…

Lovely – it feels like a prayer, but reminds me of the Julie Felix song, Anything Less than Beautiful:
“How could anyone ever tell you
that you’re anything less than beautiful,
how could anyone ever tell you
you are less than whole.
How could anyone fail to notice
that your loving is a miracle –
how deeply you’re connected to my soul.”

Oh, I do love that. Have never heard it, but will look it up. I had a dear online friend who has been taught she had no value. I know it is not much, but I had to at least share something. No one should ever feel that way. I’ve felt that way before… but now I know better 🙂

I have felt that way in the past, but I like to think I’m over it…

Agreed. It is a good feeling to overcome that. I hope that more learn what it’s like.

It gets easier as we get older. I feel it is one of our duties as human beings to encourage self-esteem in others.

I do believe it does. And yes! our duty, always! So glad to be on this journey with such a wonderful soul Jane. You truly are.

I am just as blessed Jane. So sorry I haven’t been around for a while. Was sick… then went on vacation and returned for another few weeks of being sick again! I would complain, but I haven’t been sick in years so I guess it had to happen sooner or later 🙂

Catching up on all the sickness you’ve missed out on… that’s nasty. I hope you’re fully recovered x

Still working on it… but it is on its way out finally! I’ve been sleeping elevated for over a week now. My back is killing me! So glad it wasn’t as bad as the illness I had before vacation though. This one was hard, but not as bad. Hope it stays away from you and your family. This year has been rough!

Yes… twice. Things have greatly improved now and since spring is rearing her head, I hope it is all gone!

Twice! That’s awful, especially when you have children to care for.
