I’ve been a bit busier lately, thank goodness for summer coming soon 🙂 Then, I’ll be able to return to normal life, if just for a little while. Just an update:
I’m still training my little superhero. He’s been super busy trying to catch me in the act of emailing him. He’s done pretty well too. He will write to me and then slink on over to my desk while I am busy. If my email is open, he will see that I have a new message from him. He smirks, does a little happy dance and then runs away. This has been my life all week – trying to keep a secret. It just did not go very well and I finally asked him if it was okay that I was Mrs. S and he gladly hugged me and told me it’s okay. He then told me not to forget to keep training him!
I ended up giving him the suggestion to write in a journal. Essentially, I told him he needs to think about who he is and who he wants to be. “If you are a superhero,” I asked, “What are your superpowers and why? What does your uniform look like? What are you going to fight for? What do you believe in?” I know, he’s only six, but I swear these kids have big ideas. If you only heard this one speak with his teacher during his online sessions. One time she asked him to tell her a word that started with ‘e’. I assumed he would said egg, but no, he answered exaggerate. See, his second-oldest sister is a bookworm, vocabulary lover, and grammar fiend. She just loves it so much she can (at least from what I’ve been told by her sisters) be exhausting. She teaches him the meaning of obscure words or words that should be beyond his vocabulary and he eats it up. And no, I’m not talking about exaggerate… she just shares with him word lists that she is learning to prepare for the SATs. They are both rather similar in that they like that sort of thing and yes… I was the same when I was younger, in case you were wondering 😉
Anyway, aside from training superheroes, I’ve been getting my one daughter ready for SATs. She’s been studying and also working on getting more information from colleges and scholarships. She is really hoping to get a high enough score to be able to get a scholarship, she she is rather nervous. She takes the test this week. I’ve been busy with the younger two all week doing school and the darn internet was not working on two days this week, resulting us in going to the library at least one of those days and staying the entire day. Other than that, we are extremely delighted to know that after next week it is SPRING BREAK! We are hoping to visit the gardens and many other natural places to take pictures, walk, and enjoy each other’s company. I will, I hope, bring you along with us. Until then, please enjoy some of the photos taken in California on our last visit. I’ve taken some photos last week at the gardens, but preferred to see things from the ocean this time 🙂 I hope you don’t mind!
