Poem: Waiting for the Rain

Waiting for the Rain

This image inspired the following words…

Waiting for the Rain

Keep the truths away

From the windswept

Regions of my heart

For the storms have come

Before…

It is not something new

I am accustomed

To the distant rumbling

Of impending thunder

The darkened clouds

The threat of rain –

When gentle,

A blessed sign

But sometimes

The assault is rough.

You never know, do you

Before the approaching storm

Whether to shield your eyes

Or hide in the shadows

Or perhaps, it is best

To just stand still,

Knowing that even this – shall pass.

A solitary soul

Standing in a field

Waiting for the rain to fall.

    1. Thank you dear lady! I know it seems I fell off the side of the earth, but I am still here 🙂 Things have been incredibly busy this year so I haven’t posted as much or visited. Then, summer came and I took time off away from the computer. My daughter is in her senior year of high school and there’s lot to do to prepare for her future. I am back online now and hope to post, but as you know… we can’t always predict life. It is so good to see you!!!

    1. Gosh, we just had a sudden downpour and hail right before I read your comment today. Sadly, many know of its devastation. It is beautiful though, when it is gentle.
