In case you haven’t been here before, I love writing prompts – whether a list of words, one word, or even an image. With these posts, I have written poems specifically about paintings and I hope, with my words, you see the scene just as visibly in your heart and mind as if you had seen the image itself.
Beauty, Where You Least Expect It
Have you ever
Felt the need
To unravel your skin
Detail the necessary curves
The winding highways
The paths with which,
You found yourself here
Right at this moment
Right at this time
Do you ever wonder –
What could have been?
The alternate roads not taken
The paths and routes
Left undisturbed
What then, you might ask
Trailing once again
Everything that makes you
Who you are
The scent of your skin
The clumsy fluttering of eyelids
The gentle footsteps you have solidly lain
I know that many –
Try to leave their past
Undisturbed
Settled, like dust
And in some cases –
Unspoken,
But look back,
Look back!
If only to know –
How far you have come.
