True America Weeps, a poem

TrueAmerica (2)

I’m tired

Of the division

The building

Of barriers

The refusal

To listen

The reluctance

To hear

The violation

Of rights

Yet the

Loud demand

To preserve

Their own

The memorialization

Of accomplishments

Yet the denial

That many

Different hands

From many

Different lands

Toiled and struggled

To forge

The foundations

Of our home.

As they

Slowly unravel

And destroy

Everything

It truly means

To be American.

You want to

Talk about

Freedom?

She weeps.

    1. Thank you as well. I have missed being here and so grateful you shared your post. It’s nice to know I’m not alone in that sentiment.
