If we choose to, we can be the light (a poem)

light (2)

My heart weeps
at the thought
that some
will not listen.
Given the chance –
they’ll walk away
hands clutching
their ears
to feign
IGNORANCE.
Mouths forming
the deceptive words
“I did not know” –
“I did not see” –
“That is not what I
have experienced.”
We cannot
continue to live –
surrounded
By our own bubble.
We cannot
continue to live –
refusing to look
beyond our own comfort.
We should not taste
the fruits of life
without concern –
Do others
enjoy the same?
And if not,
Then we must ask:
“What can I do?”

“What can
I do?”

“What
can
I
do?”

For until we
do something,
we are
supporting
injustice.

EVERY VOICE MUST BE HEARD.

  1. They are doing a 24 hour protest today into tomorrow, there were three others I heard about for the weekend. I really hope all these protests do the trick and change some laws, We are all the same on the inside. Great poem!

    1. Thank you Robbie. It has been a while but things have been incredibly busy. No complaints though – it has been nice to spend all my time with the kids. So good to see you as well!
