Garden Daydreams: The Beauty of My Soul, a poem

Another poem written for another photograph I have taken.  I hope it takes you there, in the fields, awash in the summer sun.  We may not all be able to physically go to the gardens today or tomorrow – but perhaps we can use a little imagination to still smell the scent of nature’s beauty.

The Beauty of My Soul

I sit
in the silence
of summer morning,
gazing
at the cloud-filled
sky.
In earnest,
I lean toward
the fragrant whisper
of garden breeze
and I wonder why
the passers-by
only notice
my unfurled petals
rising toward
the summer’s sun.
Why not my
verdant tresses,
the soft white down
that trembles
in the gentle winds,
or perhaps
the elongated spine
with which I lean?
All of me trembles
with beauty unspoken
but hardly
does anyone witness.
I lean,
I fill my days,
with glorious wonder
following the passage
of fleeting sun
and all of me –
all of me –
alludes
to the beauty
of my soul.
