Growing Old, a poem

I found a prompt that asked you to write for the word “written.” After writing the poem, I went back to get the links and read further – oh that darned ADHD (I got too excited) and wrote before reading the directions in their entirety! I found that my write had to go with the picture they posted as well. Sadly, the picture has nothing to do with this post, so I’ll just post it here on its own.

Though not written in my usual style, I rather enjoyed writing it.

I hope you enjoy!

Growing Old

Written,

these lines

across my face

the stories eased

beneath my skin

tales of a lifetime

spent

and much

of a lifetime

forgotten

replaced

and erased.

All

except here,

where my features

betray nothing.

Though sadly,

no one can

travel the trail

or even begin

to understand

the braille

of these lines –

and no one yet

has tried knowing.
