Clothe You in My Shadow, a poem

Love2

I want to

Lean with you

In the silent

Passage of time,

Wrap my meaning

Beneath the reflection

Of your ways

I long to echo

The constant

Beating

Of your heart

And hold you close…

Hold you close….

Colors

Mean nothing

Without the touch

Of your soul

And sunshine

Shall warm me not

Without your

Affectionate heart.

Together –

Seek with me

A summer’s morning

Where we linger

Over dew drenched kisses

Speak with me

The fragrant language

Of blossoming sunsets

Petalled sunrises

And promises kept…

Promises kept…

For I shall clothe you

In my shadow

For safe-keeping,

But illuminate

Your beauty

In my song.

Recite to Me Your Love Poem

Love

Recite to me

your love poem.

Wrap your verbs

in your embrace

and show me

their heartfelt promise.

Keep me safe

Keep me warm

Keep

Me.

May the

nouns you utter

be my name

and in my likeness.

May you seek to uncover

the meaning of every syllable

and may you always desire

to taste their sweetness

upon your tongue.

I hope, that

within your veins

you seek the lightness

of every beautiful adjective uttered

may they call within you

remembrance of my face

the trace of my lines

and the curve of my lips.

May you utter them

in your sleep

and in the wakeful moments

may they bring a smile

in recollection

that I am yours.

Recite to me

your poetry

may it ring true

and resound in my ears

how much you love

how much you love

may it utter

how much I am loved

and may you always know

that lingering within those lines

are the simple truths,

as long as I am able to breathe

I shall love you too.

Heart Conversations, a poem

I breathe easy
because you are near me.
I know,
your treasure
as I see it, reflected in my own eyes
and I have come to understand
the lengths to which
I have learned
to define myself
by the beauty
that you see in my own soul.
I breathe
the air you breathe
and somehow,
it completes me
I sing the songs
that only you and I
may understand,
but I cherish the connection
your hand gently held in mine
your thoughts
intertwined with my own
perhaps singing,
a different song,
but side by side
they complement
the enjoyable sound
that nature seeks
and the world requires.
Many refuse
to seek the harmony
within our veins.
They refuse to speak
and deny the song,
but I stand with you
through sunshine and rain.
May you know
that the beauty
reflected in my eyes
is your own
and the beauty
you see in me,
became possible
beneath the touch
of your gentle heart.

Reverse Tetradecanet: Love, Mystify Me

Mystify

Love

Mystify me

Blend my edges

With only his soul

So that none can discern

Where he begins – where I end.

Make us of one heart, harmonized beating

May I feel his pulse within my veins

And when he exhales, let me take my breath

So that I may quench my thirst of his love

Finding rest and comfort when we can speak in similar tongue

The same stories lain between our chests, cherished at the moment written

And similarly cherished, as each day grows long – we hold them in remembrance

I am blessed he has built his foundation beneath the eaves of my heart.

What is a Tetradecanet? It is a poem form that I made up to create fourteen line poems that are not rhyming.  The poem starts with one word and each line continues to add a word until you have the fourteenth line with fourteen words.

Portraits Poetry Series #58: We Complete One Another

In case you haven’t been here before, I love writing prompts – whether a list of words, one word, or even an image.  With these posts, I have written poems specifically about paintings and I hope, with my words, you see the scene just as visibly in your heart and mind as if you had seen the image itself.

Portraits Series

We are opposites,
you and I –
the yin and yang
that woven together
makes us whole.
You complete
all that I am
and all that I strive for
and I can only wonder
how I ever existed
before you made
your presence known.
A kind hello,
a smile
and our friendship
was born
and over time
our friendship has grown
I have never loved
as I love all that you are
and I have never been
all that I could be
until your love
made me see
all that I am –
and all that I can see
are treasured beauty
I have willingly blossomed
in your loving presence.

I Can Love You Perfectly

fontcandy-5

When you love me,

take me in –

Breathe the essence

of my skin

And despite my

blurred edges

And the scars

that I might hide,

Know that I am real,

aching

And seeking

to be made whole.

Love my lines

Love my edges

Love the beauty

Of who I want to be

Not perfect, no –

But I know that I

can love you

Perfectly.

Daily Post Prompt: The Many Ways I Long to Know Your Soul

complete

I have yet to discover

The many ways

I long to know your soul

To discover

The secret language

Of your thoughts

To find myself lost

Within your exhaled breaths.

I want to linger there

To contemplate

How deeply

You have etched

Your presence

Upon my skin

Within my thoughts

And along my days

My every heartbeat

Is a gentle whisper

Echoing the truths

Of my affection.

The more I learn

About you, my love

The more I yearn

To know.

Portraits Poetry Series 36: Love Swept

Portraits Series

She is full
Of radiant hope
Diamond smiles
Across starry nights
But her light glows
Stronger
Than any I have known
No star as bright
And her smile,
Could warm
Like a thousand suns
Her eyes,
Like beacons
When lost
On the stormy seas of life
Breathe life into the heart
And you wish to swim
In the oceans of her beauty
Get lost in the maze
That is her mind
And then, only then
Do you realize –
This is love.
