She Thinks Her Words Mean Nothing

Written for a dear friend…

nothing

Sometimes, as a writer – it can be hard to find faith in your words.  You put your very heart and soul upon the lines and you wonder, does any of this even matter?  Just know – you are not alone in your thinking, but also know that your words mean everything…

She thinks her words mean nothing
no hearts touched – she weeps
she does not understand
her words reach with gentle hand
where hearts filled with sorrow
find hope
where hearts trodden down
find promise
it is there that her words resonate
reverberate – the echo is still calling
and the words that started
as tiny ripples
get larger as they reach the other side
the water swells with meaning
and laps upon our shores
to be held
cherished
where she only sees ripples,
we feel the waves.

    1. Thank you so much. I think most of us underestimate our worth in so many ways, it can be exhausting to count them. In writing, it is no different. You can be amazed sometimes how your words mean so much to someone you may not even know. It is a wonderful gift.

      1. This is one of the great things the internet has done for us – when we put out a message, we know that someone who needs it may find it. another benefit for me has been that I’ve finally found people I can truly connect with.

        1. I completely agree. Some of my best friends have been found that way 🙂 It is hard sometimes to find others who cherish the things you do or who see the world the way you do. It is so important to connect and not think you are the only one.

          1. I understand how that can happen. It is hard to fine people who think the same or value the same things. It is a journey 🙂 So glad you found them and they found you!

    1. Just know that while these words were written for her specifically – I know it is true for anyone who writes from their heart. I understand your feelings. I think we all feel this way (even me) but we have to push on and realize that our words do make a difference for someone. They are worthy of being spoken.

    1. So glad you liked seeing these words again Seema. They are so very true. I know we all struggle with this, but we must keep telling ourselves our voices are needed. Not only that, but we need to give voice. I hope that makes sense. It is very meaningful in our lives, isn’t it? It does not matter what type of writing we lean toward, what themes, or styles – but what matters is that we speak and I value your voice and the voices of all the writers I am blessed enough to read.
