Painting with Confidence, a poem

paint

I don’t want to paint
flowers
or the setting sun
or the waving grains
of tall grass in August fields
the delicate dance of leaf
preparing to let go in the evening wind
I want to paint dreams,
metaphors,
verbs laced with intent
I want to draw the rhyme
the lilting rhythm of a song
Brush held high
I paint with confident hue
bold strokes
across an open canvas
waiting –
begging definition
to try
to try
to try again –
to paint my dreams
with certain confidence.
