What is the Pattern of Your Soul? a poem

 

What is

the pattern of your soul

what makes you whole

how does your soul sing

unfettered

and what ties you down?

I want to speak

the language of your skin

to know your hidden sins

to trace the passageways

to your beating heart

so that I can learn the art

of loving you.

It is not enough to breathe

in your presence

I want to be the inhale

between your lips

I want to fill your veins

I want to take the reins

and teach you the beauty

of your presence.

Please, I beg

let me exhaust my attempts

to feed your soul

to make you feel whole again

for nothing tastes better

than tomorrow’s sunrise

knowing I exist

to love the ways

I tremble in your presence.
